What a great day January 14th was. We welcomed our son into the world! Let me tell you ladies, labor was MUCH easier the second time around. I woke up that morning with a backache, but got ready and headed to work. All morning my back was hurting, and I thought maybe some really early labor was starting because the back pain would come and go just like a contraction. But it was still tolerable, so I stayed at work all morning. Then I went home for lunch, and decided to put my feet up for awhile to see if they subsided. Well, they didn't and I noticed that they were moving to the front of my belly as well. So I called Tom (who was heading home for lunch anyway), and we decided to head to the hospital. We got there at about 2pm, they checked me and I was dilated to a 3. Then right after they checked me, my water broke. I got the epidural(otherwise known as HEAVEN) around 3pm. It was great and kept me very comfortable. It was so nice because Tom, my Mom, Dad, Summer and I just chatted and laughed....and I was able to just relax and enjoy their wonderful company. At 4pm the nurse checked me again and I was a 6. Then at 6pm they checked me again and I was a 9. Everything progressed so quickly! Then just about 10 minutes after the nurse checked me, I knew it was time because of the ENORMOUS amount of pressure. I started pushing at around 6:15pm and Noah was born at 6:49pm. Not too shabby! Things did get a little tense right before I started pushing, because he was having some pretty bad decels (down into the 60's and 70's) with my contractions, so the nurse told me she wanted to move things along. Her guess was that the cord was wrapped around his neck (which it was). All the while, my Dr. had been paged and was on the way, but things went so quickly (thank goodness) that my nurse almost delivered him. I noticed that all of the sudden, there were about 8 nurses in my room, they slapped the oxygen on me and basically said just to go ahead, that he needed to get out of there. So just as his head was delivered, my Dr. blew in the room and got there just in time to suction him, unwrap the cord from his neck, and deliver him the rest of the way. But the second he was out, he cried a WONDERFUL, loud, precious cry. There is no better sound in the world, I tell you. Especially when you're worried about your little baby....to hear them screaming at the top of their lungs is the sweetest sound. He weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. We couldn't believe it because we just KNEW he was bigger than Ella was, but he tricked us all and was smaller by 7 ounces. He was longer though, as Ella was only 18 1/2 inches long when she was born. He is just such a tiny little peanut! There has also been much less discomfort this time, and although I was a little sore, I didn't really feel like I had given birth! It really was a wonderful experience, and we feel so incredibly blessed to have a healthy, beautiful baby boy. So here are some pics from before and after delivery:
SO excited and happy (and comfy...thanks to the epidural)! That's my Dad's hand on my stomach, feeling how tight my belly got with the contractions.

Tom and I.....waiting anxiously!

I was so glad Summer was able to come and hang out while we waited. I love my sister :)

My baby boy, right after he was born. What a precious pouty face :)

Getting checked out and cleaned up.

Noah and Daddy getting aquainted.

Getting weighed in. I know, buddy. I hate getting on the scale too ;)

A thrilled Mama and Noah after delivery.

So happy to have our baby boy here!

Thanks for sharing your story - it sounds just amazing! P.S. How do you look so good throughout labor and even after? Seriously. Did Sum double as your makeup artist?
Okay I love your post! Love that you have your phone in hand while in labor...of course! You know I will be texting away during my own delivery some day ;)
Also, you look beautiful. How did you do that during labor?!
And one more thing, I laughed outloud at your comment about Noah being upset on the scale!
