Getaway

This past weekend, Tom and I went away for the night for our anniversary. It was our first night EVER away from Ella. Actually, Tom was away from her when Ella and I went to Colorado, but it was my first night away from her. It was very hard, but was wonderful to get away with my sweet husband. We laughed and laughed and enjoyed uninterrupted conversation and time together. We had a great time. We got a room at the Lodge of the Four Seasons at the Lake. It was really pretty and it felt great to sleep in!

Tom and I in the lobby of the Main Lodge. The hotel guy behind the desk took it. Not the best picture, but you get the idea.

This was the waterfall that goes through the middle of the Lodge. We walked by this every time we walked to our room.

We had dinner at the Blue Heron. If you've never been there, you MUST go. It is definitley pricier than Tom and I are used to, but it was nice to treat ourselves and celebrate six wonderful years of marriage with a VERY nice dinner. I had the Russian Crab Leg....unbelievable, let me tell you. It was a single crab leg with 9 ounces of meat in it. HEAVEN! Tom got the Tenderloin with Shitake mushrooms. I stole a little taste and it was wonderful! As you can see by the picture, we opted against the wine and went straight for an ice cold beer! Yum-O!

My handsome husband at dinner.

This is the view directly out the window at the table we were sitting at. You can see the Lake off in the distance.

Out on the deck after dinner, enjoying the beautiful view.

After dinner, we headed back to the Lodge to change clothes and go mini-golfing. We LOVE playing mini-golf so we were excited to go! Obviously a self portrait, but Tom did pretty good, don't you think?

Another self portrait. There was some really pretty landscaping, and I liked these flowers in the background.

"Just tap it in...tap....tap...tappy." (Happy Gilmore)

Pretending to look good at it, which I'm not. I scored 12 over par.

Tom and his hole in one. Show off.

After mini-golf, we headed out for ice cream! Here is a picture of Tom's. I tried to reason with him, but he insisted that yes, he could eat ALL of this. Might I add that I ended up saying, "I told you so, babe!" Isn't it pretty? He got Sweet Cream ice cream with Reese's pieces.

This is to show you the massiveness of his ice cream. It was quite the dessert.

My creation. Cake Batter ice cream with heath bar!

Just to put it in perspective......

We had such a great time. We laughed, talked, went shopping, ate GREAT and enjoyed each other's company. Of course, we were both anxious to see Ella when we got home....but she didn't even act like she missed us! I think she had too much fun with Mimi and Papa!

I know I say it often, but I really do believe myself to be the luckiest girl around. I can't wait for all the anniversary celebrations to come!

I laughed outloud at the Cold Stone concoctions, and showed my whole family how big Tom's was!! Hahaha! Eyes are bigger than the tummy, eh? :)

SOOOO glad you guys got to get away for a night, I know it was really rewarding to be there together and just renew.

Happy Anniversary! Love you guys!

Yay! So glad you got away for some R&R.

The blue heron is my family's favorite restaurant down at the lake - the owner is dutch so when he's there he and my mom can talk in their weird language and my dad and I just pretend to understand.
